What “estimated reconstruction” means
Known from the label, inferred for home cooking, substituted after that, and tested only when someone has actually cooked it. Recipe Solver keeps those four things separate.
Known
What the package actually disclosed: product name, brand when we have it, the full ingredient declaration, nested sub-ingredients, allergen statements, nutrition facts. If that evidence is missing, we ask for a photo of the label. We do not fill the gap with a generic recipe.
Inferred
Home quantities, technique, and cook times are estimates. A factory uses percentages and equipment you do not have. Closest match means “this is our best homemade reading of the functions on the label,” not a factory formula and not a percentage score.
Substituted
Cleaner and allergen-aware versions change the original on purpose. They come after the baseline reconstruction. Allergen-aware is an attempt to avoid what you selected — not a medical guarantee. Always read the ingredients you buy.
Tested
Tested means someone cooked this version and recorded an outcome. Catalog samples and new scans are not kitchen-tested just because they render. We do not invent cook counts or star ratings.
Scan a packaged food
Recipe Solver rebuilds from the package — not a generic recipe from the name.
